Welcome to Tigh na Boireach

This remote, romantic holiday cottage is an ideal retreat for a “get away from it all” style holiday or honeymoon.

The historic, quaint charm of the exterior of this listed cottage gives way to the modern, warm and comfortable interior of the property.

The cottage provides a perfect base for island exploration and there are numerous outdoor activities to enjoy. There are many walks that are suitable for all ages and abilities that offer a great way to engage with the unique landscape. The coastline boasts some of the most stunning beaches around and the clear blue sea is a haven for wildlife.

The cottage has a C category listing with Historic Scotland.

At Tigh na Boireach we are taking part in an RSPB initiative called Sleeping with Corncrakes. Corncrakes are a rare summer visitor, seen mainly in the Outer Hebrides. They thrive on the unique Machair habitat of North Uist. Sleeping with Corncrakes involves creating a habitat in the field at Tigh na Boireach to encourage them to take up residence there. We have created a nettle patch and allowed the grass to grow to provide them with the cover they enjoy. You are more likely to hear a corncrake than see one, it sounds like a credit card scraping across the teeth of a comb. There were numerous sightings of corncrakes this year in the field and near the cottage.

“The cottage has a wonderful home from home feeling and a lot of effort has gone into all the small details from the comfort of the bed (exceptionally comfortable) to the quality of towels, linen and a well equipped kitchen. The cottage is warm within winter and once inside feels both spacious and private (for a small cottage). A wonderful base from which to explore all the islands.”
